Guide to Unlawful Eviction

Under the Protection from Eviction Act 1977 tenants are entitled to bring claims for compensation when they have lost their homes as a result of unlawful eviction action. The staring point for compensation is the value of the property with a tenant and the value of the property without it. If the value of the property with a tenant is deducted from the value of the property without a tenant then the difference is the starting point for damages. This can run to tens of thousands of pounds.

    I suffer from mental illness issues and i do take full responsibility for my actions, which have now made me homeless. for months i have asking my landlord to fix desrepairs in my flat. these include condensation, faulty centralheating ,cracked window. in protest, i wjthheld rent for 2 weeks and returned to fine locks at my door changed and a note inrfing me to collect my belongings at the office. i was assured shorthold and have lived here for 2 years. putting up with friendsnow for a couple of days. what aremy chance of getting back into my home
