Why can't I … ?

This site is a Beta service and many functions and features we’d like to offer are not yet developed. These will be added in due course, funds permitting. Following are notes explaining our plans for these features.

Subject keywords and categories

We do not maintain a full text index of law resources and that’s not our intention.

You can currently find resources here by browsing or searching by type of resource or by searching by citations, title or other bibliographic data. The standard Search searches all these and the Advanced Search enables you to do a refined search.

You cannot currently browse or search by subject. We are currently sourcing subject data wherever readily available and will implement subject browse and search as soon as we have a meaningful set of data.

You can help us classify resources by adding to the subjects shown on the results page. See the Classify page for further info.

Publication dates

We don’t yet have accurate publication dates for all resources. Dates shown as 1 Jan in any year indicate that the publication date was within that calendar year.

Other legal documents

We’ve initially loaded data for Legislation, Court Cases in the higher courts and FreeLegalWeb articles.

More data types will be loaded later, including Tribunal Cases, Law Commission Reports, Command Papers, Law Books and others.

Content other than Housing Law

In terms of authored content, the pilot service focuses on Housing Law only. Once we have initial feedback we will be developing other subject areas.

Contributing content

You can register, login and contribute using a standard WordPress dashboard. In the next development phase we’ll be providing a customised authoring interface.

Author profiles

Author profile information is currently limited to a brief bio. In the next development phase we’ll be implementing full author profiling – something like LinkedIn provides.
